As I owned and love the he-400 but feel that it is a uncomfortable headphone for long listening period so I am looking for another set of headphone to switch back and fourth between the he-400. From my research, I think and kind of narrow it down to three options: HD598, HD600, and AD900X. Would anyone with experience with any of these headphones please give me some advices on how they differ?

The 650 may prove a bit too dark for him, especially if he is used to the treble spike of the he400. I'd personally recommend the hd600.

Really want to buy a hd600 right now, but I live in Thailand and the hd600 sells for about $430. My bro is studying high school in USA, California. Is it cheaper there? BTW, the ad900x sells on Amazon by a third party company in Japan for about $220 including shipping, would a much lower price than the hd600 sold locally be a good enough reason to purchase these instead? Thanks for your help :D

I think it's between the Sennheiser HD600 or HD650. Some debate that the HD600 is better than the 650s, but I think that the 650s are a little closer to what the HE400s produce.

Now I am having 2nd thoughts. Buying another pair of headphone with similiar sound sig compare to the one I am having just for the sake of better comfort seems like a funny investment.

What would be a headphone with completely different sound sig than the HE400 that are comfortable? (I mean a headphone that would be better at what the HE400 lacks such as smoother treble response) Any recommendations?

Had HE400 and HD600 at the same moment, I sold HE400 to keep HD600, so I would say HD600

What makes you choose the HD600 over the HE400. Just replace mine HE400 with the velours and the comfort is pretty worse now. My bro tried it on and said they feel like MEDIEVAL TORTURE DEVICE. Even if the sound quality was better, he preferred his beats studios.

i'm not sure if you'll be fine with the HD650 or HD600 without a good amp (unless you haven't updated your profile). in my experience they shine and scale really well depending on the amp used. the AD900X is also a good alternative to look at since it doesn't require much power but will benefit from a good amp. then again it has a very completely different sound signature compared to the other headphones you mentioned.

i know because i heard my friends HE400 and brought my AD900X and HD650 over to his place for a day. he had the crack OTL speedball amp with the WE 421A tube / bifrost for his HD600 and imo it put my asgard 1 to shame when i paired my HD650 with his crack amp. as for the HE400 he had the schiit lyrz paired with bifrost and i didn't like the HE400 due to its weight like you said. i took it off right away. i wouldn't care if a headphone had good sound if it made my head uncomfortable.

ad900x = fun. musical. engaging. airy.
HD 650 = depends on what amp is paired with it. most of the people on this forum say it's laidback, smooth, and euphoric which i can agree. then again they didn't pair it with a high or mid tube amp and got that result with a solid state amp as i did before trying the crack amp.

i didn't get to listen with his HD600 much but i can tell you i was enjoying it for the minute i had it on.
