the comfort of the sony with the beyer pads is far superior to the ultrasone. they did make my ears red and hot after probably 30-60 mins of listening. with the beyers they make your ears sweaty, but not hot.

the bass on the dvd i reckon is a bit muddy, not as tight as the others.

If we're going to talk modding the Sony's pads, why not talk modding the Ultrasone's pads? Beyer DT880 pads fit on them. You could always give that a try.

There must be like dozens of exactly the opposite comments on HFI-650 sensitivity. Mine are still ampless and work more than OK.

Good to know that sensitivity isn't an issue.

Let me give you a frame of reference for my "comfort zone." I find the 280 Pro comfortable, despite what people say about clamping, sweaty pads, etc. For me, the pads are soft enough that it doesn't matter. Even the HD497 became comfortable for me eventually, though never blissfully so. I am pretty much immune to "hot ear" syndrome. My only concern is that the Ultrasone pads may be a little small for me; if they sit too much on my ear cartilage it may get painful. (I had this problem with the V6, but if I had kept them longer it might have gone away over time.)

So with those comfort parameters, am I likely to have comfort issues with the Ultrasone?
