I need closed back due to my set up. I have the tak star pro 82 right now but i am not 100% for sure if I am going to keep them. I also have the sony mdrxb950bt and use them from time to time.
I am not sure if the controller is driving it enough.
I've been looking around today and have been looking at the following mostly due to price and the ohms ratings:
Nvx Xpt 100
Samson Sr950
Superlux 681evo (not sure if that one is closed back?)
Additionally I may just decide to get an amp like the fio e10k, or the soundblaster g1, then that would be able to drive the 82 fully i feel?
I like pretty much everything with the 82 except what I've mentioned.

Your inputs are appreciated in advance.

The HD681 Evo is semi-open--FYI. It sounds terrific but it is not closed. I would recommend that you look into a SoundMAGIC HP151. It is a significant step-up from your Takstar, IMO. It is well-made and sounds terrific. Highly recommended. Maybe read about it and see what you think. It might work. Oh--and it is easy to drive.

Takstar: relatively neutral, nice detail, average separation, a bit bass light for me. Might benefit from an amp of some sort. SoundMAGIC: just slightly v-shaped with solid bass and good treble extension. Mids glorious, not really recessed. Separation excellent. Amp not really necessary. These are just my personal takes and your mileage may vary, of course. FWIW. Let me know if you are still interested in an HD681 Evo--I have one of those, too.
