I currently have a pair of E2c and like them very much. They were my first step into the "more expensive" realm of IEM. I have enjoyed using them but the plactic chord has started to crack were it goes over the ear. I plan to "attempt" to fix it and use the headphones for work as there they get a little beat up and I don't want to ruin the new set I am about to buy.
Anyway, I think I have narrowed it down to 4 choices and I would like some input from you experts on which might be best for the price. I listen to mostly country music, some classical (trans siberian orchestra stuff), and audio books (not a huge deal but thought i would put it in).
The first one up is the Super.fi 5 Pro. I am not crazy about the way they stick out of the ears but they have gotten good reviews. These are pretty much my upper limit for price. I just did a quick Amazon, ebay, headroom comparison and since i can get them for the same price at either i will probably go with headroom/amazon.
The second pair is the Shure E4c. Single driver unlike the Super.fi but again people really seem to like them. Again, this is the upper limit of my price range. Since i have shure IEM now and like them it seemed like a logical progression. I do like the way these look in the ears much better then the Super.fi. The quick price match between Amazon, ebay and headroom (seems i ahve to call them) shows that Amazons price is a little higher then ebay, but I would like to get a warentee this time (bought my E2c used) so i would search around for the lowest price from a dealer probably.
The next set is the Shure se210. Again, single driver and i like the way these look in the ear better then the Super.fi. Unlike the previous two these can be had on ebay for less then buying from headroom/amazon. If possible I would still try to buy form a person that might be able to give me a receipt so the warentee is still good. These phone are at the "lower end" of the price range and would save me some money to spend on other toys.
The last pair is the Westone UM1. I really don't know a whole lot about these and really only discovered the brand after coming here and seeing them suggested a bit. I don't really know how they feel in the ear or what they look like (short of review by places like ilounge). Again, these are the "lower end" of the budget so they would allow me to buy other toys. Would probably end up buying these from Amazon as the price there is similar to ebay.
OK, sorry about the long explication of stuff but i thought i would explain it all so you all can help me decide which might be best.
Thanks in advance!!
