Help me choose a DAC for my rig...

Hello.
I need help with a DAC purchase.

PC/E-MU 1212m -> (insert DAC here) -> Mapletree Ear+ HD Custom -> Grado SR225 (upgrading to RS1 in a few months)

I'd like to keep the budget around $500.00 but can go up to $650.00 if there is a lot to gain in sound quality.

With that budget, I'd get a Storm Digital D02. Do a search and you'll find out all you need to know. It's a killer DAC, and I plan on ordering mine today
