Ok, all of a sudden my Audigy 2 Platinum is getting static noise. Lots of clicks and pops - especially when I play music. However, when I play music out of my onboard sound card - it sounds fine.

Does anyone have any idea how I can get rid of this crackle?

Please help me!!

Maybe there is a I/O conflict. If so the above options should do the trick.

x2

Also uninstall and reinstall your card drivers.

If it is caused because of an I/O conflict you can set it mannually. I am assuming that you don't know how to do this so don't hesitate to PM me if you want me to explain that to you.

That's after you tried all of the above because most likely that will work and I don't want to start scaring you with all kinds of technical terms before that's neccesary.

I usually get that kind of problem with my SB Live!, it went weird out of the blue. Reinstalling the driver fixed the problem. Now I've shielded the card and modded it slightly with more powerful capacitor it no longer give me that problem

I had a similar problem last night. I was listening to music, and I tried to open a zip file that locked and caused XP to rerun explorer. So now I can't see the kX Mixer running in the tray and what not. Something happened where I started getting a pop in the right channel, like when my friends stereo setup starts clipping. I thought, wth? So I stopped the MP3 I was listening to, ended the kX Mixer process and reran it and the pop went away. So strange.

Ok. I tried all and nothing worked. Still got static. The only thing I dont know how to do is how to fix the I/O conflict, assuming that is the problem.

I hate clicks and pops.

First you should check whether it is an I/O conflict or not. You can do this by going to Control Panel> Performance and Maintenance> System> Hardware> Device manager.

If there is an I/O conflict there should be a sign that there is something wrong with it. (something like a red X or an exclamation point)

If there is an I/O conflict you should double click the device. You will get a windows with the properties of that particular device. You should then go to Recources. There should be an I/O there which you can change if you really want to. You can let Windows do this for you as well.

BTW. Have you checked whether your Inputs on your sound card are closed? This is common problem which will cause a lot of static.

I ALWAYS had that with my SB Live 5.1, try high resistance headphones (~250 Ohm will do), if it still exist there is definetly something wrong.

I think..1-2 years ago..my audigy 1 (budget model of audigy one..duno the letters... the creative site didnt even list my model when they had audigy 1's listed) had some problems. I know it had weird beeps (feedback?) and maybe popped every now and then. When I got fed up with it, i switched the sound card to the right PCI-Port (right as in, I believe the previous one had conflicts with my onboard lan or USB ports) and i also switched to Kx Drivers for my sound card. Since then I dont have the beeps/pops and SQ is a bit better.

Which was the actual solution to the problem? I'm not actually sure, but consider doing this not only got rid of the problems but also improved the sound quality I think it's a viable option.
