Hi guys, I have an HE-560 (the newer version with 2.5mm connector). Need your help figuring out a fix for this (besides replacing the cup / sending in for replacement).

The sound from the left driver randomly cuts off when some small force is applied to the cup (e.g. pressing it against the head, tapping the cups).

When it does, increasing the volume on the amp (to around 3 o'clock) brings the sound back, and it works fine (for hours at a time).

I checked the internals and all wiring is good, tried a different set of cables and amp, and I already cleaned the socket with a contact cleaner.

thanks!

@Muinarc - thanks! is it the lead cable that connects from the 2.5mm socket to the driver assembly (magnets)? or is there a separate lead (magnets to diaphragm) inside the driver assembly? I'm not not too familiar with the planar wirings = (

Usually a planar has wire from the cable socket to the coil printed into the planar diaphragm. I'm not quite sure how the leads connect to the 560 drivers, some planars have a metal "pad" that the wire solders to, and others can have the actual super thin wire at the end of the maze of wire that makes up the diaphragm exposed and soldered to.

It would be the part under the foam and tape in this photo that I'm wondering if you had a good look at it.

Thanks man! will look into it. I just checked if they are still connected, will check further

btw, what planar is that? and did you replace the internal wires on that planar? the 560 looks cheap and flimsy =)
