It's an excellent place to start.

The Philips Fidelio X1/28 Premium Over-Ear Headphones is an excellent can, although I don't know if it will satisfy a true basshead.  See:

Bass heavy? You could try the V-Moda M-100 or XS. Though the beats still 'out bass' these two in terms of sheer low end strength.

Then +1 to the Sony X10.

Given that you're worried about size also, I'd recommend the x10's slightly smaller brother the MDR x05. Almost identical but just a bit smaller and the bass will rattle your skull. Overall sound isn't terrible either, especially for the type you listen to. Both the x10 and x05 are extremely comfortable to wear.

Why not give IEMs a try? There are a lot of basshead-friendly options as far as I know. Also, The Audiophile Bass Lounge is a better place to look for basshead-friendly cans. They've got a list of on-ear, over-ear, and IEMs for bassheads.

Best of luck with your purchase!
