I'm trying to finish up ordering parts for another MINT and I'd like to try a Alps 50k pot this time. This is mostly because the Panny pots are only available through Digikey and it's the only piece that I'd need from there.

It would appear that Mouser carries the Alps pots (here) but I don't feel confident picking the right one. I know I need: a) a 50k pot, b) a horizontal mount, c) an isolated shaft and d) an audio taper. So to my eyes the correct part number would appear to be 688-RK12L1210C01. Could somebody who's in the know double check that for me?

Many thanks,

Nate

nate,

You could check here. I know you want to order from mouser... I think that the person on headwize has a link to the Alps tech specs, so you should be able to pick or verify that the Mouser one is the right Alps part.

The one that mouser has is not the right ALPS pot. It's a pot with a single detent and functions as a balance pot.

a MINT does not have the board space for an ALPS RK27 pot, and the RK27 won't fit in the most common MINT enclosures. Just wondering... why? lol

688-RK12L1210C01 doesn't exist. 688-RK12L1210C0L does, but 12L121 is specified for "Tone Control" in the data sheet, so that can't be right. 12L12A is volume control, but I couldn't find a "pin out" to compare to the panasonic pot. Also keep in mind that the good "Blue Velvet" ALPS is the 27mm large model that will not fit onto the mint board. This doesn't mean that ALPS in the cheaper POTs is any better than panasonic. None of this help much, but at least you won't be getting a tone control...

I wasn't trying to use "Blue Velvet" for this project, just the 50k version of the 10k alps pot that Tangent refers to in the Cmoy parts description. I was hoping that Mouser carried it so I could place my order for just the MINT parts today. I have to use Digikey for the PIMETA so I'll just roll the Panny pot into that order and it'll force me to finish up that fiasco sooner rather than later.

Anyway, thanks for the help.

Edit - seems like someone else was thinking the same thing - RK12 Thread
