My wife is a little obsessed with spiders, the problem is she's scared of them and asks me if everyone she sees is a black widow. It's become kind of a joke around the house. When were in Belize she was walking around the jungle looking for tarantula holes... it was pretty funny.

Anyways getting to my question, I want to get her a spider book. I was just going to get something small for her Christmas stocking but I think I'd like to get a nicer one with lots of big colorful pictures and some general information.

I can't seem to find anything that covers all the species of the world with good pictures, can anyone help??

The only book I`ve ever read about spiders, was how Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider. So he got the power, to be Spiderman.

Hmm, can`t really help you out here.

I've already tried Borders, Barns & Noble, and did some minor searches on Amazon.

Make sure the book has info. about camel spiders. Tarantulas will suffocate you with webbing, but these guys will numb you and then feast away.

I was watching a program on pbs and long story short...researcher mentioned one should not sleep out in the open in the desert, even if elevated.

note: my link above is to an urban legends page. there are lots of crazy stories about spiders on the web, and most carry no proof. i'm still scared of them though
