Hi,

I'm new here , perhaps the title should shout that , I have never used a DAP and is looking for help, tired of the One Plus One or any Android phones for that matter , one day I decide to invest in a DAP. Then , I dust out my room and see the Nokia 730 lying around , and dust that out too, connect to wi fi, and play some lossless from Youtube , i don't know if that is lossless because any web file on there must be compressed . Mean while I connect the 730 to a Sennheiser CX 213 and find the sound to be wonderful . I have an option to get an A & K Jr at less than Market price which would milder my bank bud by a handsome figure , of course the salaries would kick in later , but why Astell and Kern , should I experience A & K and find that I have asked the stupidest question ever , do any of you own these two devices by chance , I'm in India r.n. and there is no way I could go to a store and test it , A& K's are just imported , that's it. Tx. in advance .

P.S: A&K has the Wolfson DAC and it was acquired by Cirrus which feeds Apple and Iphones sound not as good as 730 (unless the quality is derailed for battery concerns) so , ...., + which DAC has the 730 have ?

Youtube streams at 128kbps so if it's on Youtube it's not lossless. To be quite honest, I wouldn't recommend you buy a DAP if that's the only headphone/earphone you own. You won't find a huge difference in sound quality from getting a DAP compared to getting a better headphone/earphone.

Tx. doolalala,
I have an AT M50x too , but as you might know, that ain't portable !

Would you recommend a pair of earphones below $100?

TFZ Series 5S Limited Edition is good. Should fit your description apart from the mids sounding a little thin (but clear) and the mids are also slightly recessed. Another good one is the RHA MA750, they're quite similar but are a little bit out of your price range. If you want a IEM with nicer mids, the Shure SE215/LTD would be my pick. Has good fuller mids and bass but is lacking in the highs as it is rolled off.
