Thanks for looking, and possibly helping. My son is a nuclear electrical engineer in the navy and is having these tatoo's put on. I told him I will confirm what they say before he has it done just to make sure he was told correctly. He asked me how and I told him I have connections to the greatest people worldwide that will help me out. If you are Japanese, or know how to read japanese, or have a friend that is Japanese, I could really use your help with this. And thanks for your help fellow head-fi-nuts

I don't read Japanese, but since these were originally Chinese characters I'll say they look pretty accurate.

Well I'm not sure they have exactly the same meaning in Japanese as in Chinese, but I'll say in Chinese they are "indeed accurate."

OK you guys, now I was expecting some funny quotes regarding these, as this forum is know to produce, but I was looking for some assurance from serious postings to confirm them.
I probably should have taken out the translation words and left them blank so the real reader would post the english words to confirm their meaning.

I guess its too late now for that though.

Now I'm not sure how to handle this anymore to know if you guys are serious when you need to be or just jerking my chain and maybe his skin which would not be a nice thing to do

I had the characters checked by 5 members of my staff (all can read Kanji) and they say the translation is correct.

the smaller versions in the lower right look better in that they seem to be handwritten brush strokes, compared to the computer-generated versions that are predominantly shown.

but to answer your question, as have already been done numerous times, they do indeed mean what you think they do.
