Just bought an Archos 604 to use in addition to my iPod. The volume out on the Archos 604 is not very loud. I have several different headphones (Grado 60, Sennheiser PX100/200, iGrado...) and some ear canal phones (Eymotic, Shure e5...). Some of them definitely produce more volume with the Archos.

Are there any suggestions on headphones or ear canals the produce more volume with same power output.

Archos 604 is a great audio and video player. But the sound out is not very high, even on max volume setting.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Any others?

What will impact the potential volume of a headphone or earphone? Impedance?

The Archos is a great player, just weak volume.

Thanks

Impedance is one. Sensitivity is the other measure you'll read about. Headphones vary greatly in sensitivity: for a given input, they'll produce different loudness. I don't know how sensitive any of your headphones are. I have an Archos AV500 and its headphone amp is good, if not particularly strong.
