Hello,
 
I am a long time lurker on this forum.  I decided to make my first post as I have recently purchased a pair of HD 800 S which I am due to receive tomorrow and know I am going to need some help going forward.  I am worried maybe I should have invested in a better amp before I went out and purchased the HD 800 S but I got a fairly good deal and couldn't pass it up.
 
My current set up includes the ATH-M50 and Beyer DT880 which  I am running through a Shiit Modi 2 and Magni 2.  I know this is not the most ideal set up for the HD 800 but I am planning on adding the Schiit Valhalla 2 to my set up in the next month or so.  
 
Any advice or comments are appreciated.

I hope you enjoy it! I sure do enjoy mine! My recommendation would be to roll tubes on that Vahalla 2 you're getting though, as the stock tubes are quite neutral and... well... don't exactly sound like a tube amp.
