Hello, I am new here. I just wanted to say hello and ask if this forum is a general audio hi-fi forum or it is specialized for Headphone Hi-Fi and Portable Audio? Thanks.

You will be able to find a good deal of information about sources both digital and analog as well here. As said before many of the members have a good deal of speaker background as well.

Don't forget sources, interconnects, cables, pads, etc. Head-Fi has been enough to even get some of us into "woodies".

Thanks for the welcome! I am a bit in audio hi-fi.

May I ask a couple of questions?

1. Are headphones and headphone amps shoulder to shoulder with "normal" audio hi-fi equipment such as preamps/amps and speakers. I mean can headphones reproduce the sound so good as speakers? Also, do not know if headphone amps are similar to "normal" amps. In one sentence (question) can "headphone sound" be compared to "speaker sound"?

2. Is is expected to have a new audio standard on DVD? I mean to utilize a grater capacity of DVD and make a better digital representation of sound?
