Don't need to learn Chinese--I have Chinese friends but they speak English, being in America and all. I had a hilarious times teaching them colloquialisms and non-sequitors. I taught my friend Chin to say, "I could give a rat's ass about that" whenever someone said something "boring." It lead to many interesting conversations!

Ni hao! I do speak some Mandarin - which reminds me that I need to take classes to refresh my Chinese - but I'm not as proficient as I used to be.

Say, where are you from?

BTW - my reading skills has since declined drastically. But is your username "Chang Chen Chang?"

EDIT: Nevermind, I think Zuerst got it right.

This was discussed before, quite some time ago (and likely before you registered), but it is indeed an English-only forum.

Nothing against other languages -- my parents speak to each other in at least one other language (and my mother speaks a few others), and I'm decent-at-best with at least one other language. It's an issue of practicality: it's quite impossible for the moderator team to moderate in the many different languages that I'm sure could be presented by our very international membership.

EDIT: If you're wondering in what context this was discussed before, it was because a few Chinese members were starting and conducting entire threads in Chinese.

Just to help our friends who don't speak Chinese, phonetically, the name should be pronounced as: 长 (cha-ng, "a" pronounced with an "arh" sound as in the word "char") 城 (Ch-urn). I hope this helps.

BTW - Welcome to Head-Fi and sorry about your wallet.

EDIT - the mods have a good reason about keeping this English only. I guess we should comply.
