I would bet that each possibility on your list will sound better than the Mini (maybe a lot better) ... so you're in luck there (although you might miss the sturdy, tank-like build of the Mini).

I don't know whether Meizus are sold in U.S. retail stores yet, but I hope I'm wrong (Walgreens sells them online -- maybe they're in Walgreens retail stores). I'm pretty sure Cowons are not (which is too bad).

I was in a Best Buy in California recently and briefly picked up and played with the two Samsungs you mention. The K3 is handsome (the red is classy), if a fingerprint magnet, and the T9 looks like a tiny cell phone and actually seemed to be easier to operate than the K3 (although it's not as good-looking).

Check with Best Buy about the iRiver -- I believe I saw a Clix 1 in a Best Buy last year ... don't know if they still carry iRiver (again, I hope somebody does).

Good luck with your search for a new player.
