Hey guys,

I recently got the HD595 and coupled it with my PA2V2. The result was rather disappointing. So for around $100, what headphone amp do you suggest? I need something that can improve the bass of the HD595 and gives it more soundstage.

THANX!

What particularly did you find disappointing about the HD580 + PA2V2 combo? What were you specifically looking for going into that combo? Only stronger bass and a larger soundstage?

Yea, that's about it. Maybe more clarity? That would be nice. The Pa2Va seems to make the HD595 more muffled.

Hmm...the PA2V2 is quite a bassy amp, so bass quantity couldn't have been the issue. Was there not enough bass? Too much bass (Thus bloated and not as defined and quick?)? The PA2V2 is on the warm side, so I'm not surprised that you want more clarity. I've heard REALLY good things about the PINT (~$90-$100), but I haven't personally heard one.

The Little Dot Micro+ has been reported to have great synergy with the HD595 (and HD580, and in my experience the HD600 too). I recommend that one, seems to be the budget match made in heaven for Senns.

But some have reported that the LDM+ does nothing to bass... as it's a rather cold amp...

The PA2V2 doesnt seem to do anything to the HD595. All i can tell is it made the phones more muffled and added SOME warmth to the phones. It did wonders to the A500 which i previously owned, but not to these Senns.

Au contraire my man, the LDM+ is a controller of sloppy bass. I guarantee you'd like the amp with the HD595 - if you don't I'll give you $5!

Well, if I was in your situation, I'd look into getting a PINT with a fordward sounding op-amp to clear up the HD580 sound signature. I didn't find the PA2V2 particularly efficient, so it could be that the HD580s are being under-driven with an amp that is already rather bassy/warm (So you get that thick sound with bloated bass).
