Well I believe I am going to take the plunge and purchase a Heed CanAmp. Thanks to all who have given me some solid advice on selecting a headphone amp. Dan Muzquiz from Blackbird Audio/Gallery was also very helpful and gave me some leads on amps he even did not carry. I just placed an order with him for a Heed amp as Dan just received some stock of this fine amp. Well wish me luck, will let you all know how I make out.

I got mines today, Fedex left it between my main door and the storm door. I am running it with the Micro DAC by headroom and off to play tunes from my Mac Mini MK I, to play AAC tracks into a pair of AKG-701K. It is amazing the control it has over all sort of other headphone outputs.

This is my foray into head amplification, on a serious level, and for the money I paid, it is seriously good. It has drive and transparency in droves. I am having much much fun with the combo. You will not be disappointed, but what headphone do you plan to use?

PS: What sucks is the price increase from 400 to $450. What counts is the innards, because the case work is simply almost DIY feel to it. Everything else is really good. BTW, I just hate that lamp cord that is attached to it.

Good listening.

you two gentleman are in for a wonderous treat. I have had a Heed since its
introduction and it is a simple, effective and magnificent way to amplify your source. It drives all of my headphones with ease and brings out the best in each of them. Enjoy.

x2

Following a good 200-250 hours of burn-in, the CanAmp is a genuine marvel!

My Heed particularly loves the AKG 701, not far behind is the Denon D2000 and Ultrasone 2500. It really takes these guys to their best. I have done so much a/b with other Headfiers
amps and over and over again I plug my hps back into the Heed.
