My CanAmp has been sitting on the shelf for the past couple of weeks and today when I picked it up, I noticed something was loose inside. I could hear something rattling around inside when moving it from side to side. Then the noise stopped after a few more shakes and I think whatever was loose must have lodged itself somewhere.

Is it safe to continue using the CanAmp? Should I open it up to see what's going on - I don't have much electronics experience?

Obviously there's the risk that the loose bit inside that's rattling could be metal and it could lodge itself where it is causing a short, with unpredictable results. If the Heed Canamp is easy to open up I would be very tempted to have a peek inside and maybe give it a shake to remove the loose item and see what it is.

if you don't want to void the 3 year warranty i say leave it be unless it happens again

edit: you didn't mention if it still works at all?

I just tested it and it sounds as gorgeous as ever. However, after giving it a hard shake, the thing seems to have come loose again. I've only had the thing a couple of months. I have a feeling it may arrived with this problem and I only discovered it today.

Will opening the thing up void the warranty?

Pretty easy ... the lid is held on with 4 allen/hex screws (2 a side) but on mine they were really tight, so i had to use a screwdriver with an appropriate bit to loosen them, an allen key didn't have enough leverage.
