Interestingly, even the measurements of the HEDDPHONE Two (non GT) don't Show the subbass rolloff like the measurements from headphones.com
It’s different measurement rig. Possibly guys from headphones.com didn’t get perfect seal. Another thing to consider is that they present quite raw measurement, while this is smoothed, but overall this measurement is pretty much on point with what I heard.

Our GT measurements haven’t been posted yet. Just got the review units in yesterday. But @Resolve will have 5128 measurements of the leather and velour pads up on our forum along with a comparison to the original HP2.

I know that, we were discussing how original Heddphone 2 measurements differ 😊

Can’t wait for your review

Wow, the headphone is 550g, I hope it is packed up with full of great technologies. Is it mostly the weight of the AMT driver?

Yes, AMT drivers weigh a lot. Don't be worried about weight however - the headband system is very well thought out and these headphones are really comfortable despite the weight.
Agreed! I believe they are around the same weight as the ZMF Atrium, and I found the GT more comfortable and balanced on my dome.

Thanks for sharing, that's VERY interesting.

It seems like this headphone can be a banger for fun-oriented listeners, at least on paper:

  • good mid warmth, with a gentle hump around 150hz which in combination with the good presence at 1khz to 4khz should not sound muddy at all, but just have a fullbodied presentation
  • nice to see the 10Khz and above region to not be super-boosted (like many other brand does).
  • I guess the 4.5Khz little peak should not be too problematic, considering the 3khz is there and the warmth could compensate a bit for the added spark.
  • It seems like it could be an energetic, fullbodied and sparkly experience, without the artificial glare that some other headphones tend to expose.
  • The ear gain may be hot for some people, and I'm one of those who can be sensitive to that region. That's something one has to try and see how it goes.
All in all, an interesting tuning that may appeal to a lot of people, in a good way.

Too bad there is no loaner/demo tour for EU

I would recommend you to normalize the graph to 425/500hz for more accuracy and, imo, the suede pad measurement looks better.

Here are the 5128 measurements for those looking for those along with a visualization of HPTF variation. Graphs with comparisons to the original HP2 will get posted today!

The pads are nearly identical - Purple is leather, orange is suede.

Not sure what this is?
Headphones behave differently on different heads. Everything from pad deformation, to the size and shape of the physical ear filling the space, to the way it sits on the head can all have an influence on the frequency response at the eardrum. If you’ve ever seen a graph and thought “but this doesn’t match my experience”, HpTF variation (headphone transfer function) is likely the reason why. And yes… this is also one of the key factors in explaining differences in perceived ‘technicalities’ among listeners, but that deserves its own separate topic.

So far we’re showing just two ‘heads’ with their own unique pinnae, in the form of the GRAS 43AG’s KB5000 and the B&K 5128’s pinna, but ideally we end up developing more to test on in the future."

As a note, the pads being nearly identical is what HEDD was trying to achieve as they didn't want those that did not want leather to have a different sonic experience. So it's good to see that Dmitry was able to achieve that!

How come that the subbass roll off on your rig is quite strong but on others it isn't.

Are there some seal issues?
How would you describe the rolloff subjectiveöy from listening?

To be clear, this is information from both the B&K 5128 and the GRAS 43AG systems, so this has both the full head data and the flat plate data. To the question of roll-off though, there really isn't any sub-bass roll off going on here, rather it's a consistently forward feature in the mid-bass that may make it look somewhat like that. But if there were a break in the seal or a gap in some respect, you'd actually see far more dramatic sub-bass roll off, but this goes all the way down to 20hz in a fairly flat manner. Actually, that reminds me... I'll post another measurement shortly that actually shows this just so you can see what happens if for some reason there is a gap.
