My set just arrived today and so far I'm really impressed with the resolution. I'm finding I prefer the suede pads as they seem to tighten up the bass a bit and give a but more open of a sound.
From my experience the two different pads don’t really differ in sound. Earlier in the thread it was mentioned they were designed to not sound different

they sound pretty different to me, but I have a beard so it’s possible that the seal characteristics are different for me.

the foam densities are also very different, the suede pads are more of a memory foam while the leather pads are a lighter, faster rebounding foam. the fit feels pretty different to me between the two

could be entirely psychoaccoustic effects of the suede pads feeling more open, but to me it’s non-negligible

I think someone had a freq response between the two showing very similar results. But yes, I do agree with you. For me, I get a touch more openness (word check) with the Valour. Very slight though. Slight enough to be mind tricks for sure lol.

Is the tuning V shaped? I want v shaped sound so I can listen to modern hip hop and r&b.

Is the cable connector at the headphone end of the cable a 3.5mm plug? I didn’t see any specs for the cable connector at the headphone end on their website. Thanks!

Some test tracks that really show these off well for me:

Last Night - Iron & Wine
Deadweight on Velveteen - Jose Gonzalez
Retrograde - Maggie Rogers
Simulation Swarm - Big Thief
Celebrate - Anderson Paak
Grad - Braoness
(A Shimmering Radiance) Diadem of 12 Stars - Wolves in the Throne Room
Catalina - Rosalia
The Beach - Wolf Alice
You’ve Seen the Butcher - Deftones

Really enjoying these so far. Much better tuning than any high end planars IMO. They do really like power. They sound best on my ampsandsound Mogwai SE.

This is from memory since I no longer have the lcd-5 or susvara, but these have:

- much better bass quantity, impact, and tonality than either lcd-5 or susvara. maybe not quite as textured but still good, and the timbre of bass guitars is so much more lifelike
- better midrange texture than either of them
- better balanced upper mids than lcd-5 which is too shouty, and susvara which has a hole at 2k (nice for the spaciousness effect but negatively affects vocal timbre)
- better balanced upper treble than either (lcd-5 doesn’t have enough and susvara has too much, which gives it that airy quality but makes it too harsh with some tracks)

detail in the mids is on par with both if not better, bass is slightly worse (though much better tonally), and I’d say equally detailed in the treble. the fact that any of these things are true is incredible, let alone the fact that they did it at a fraction of the price with much better tuning and comfort (than lcd-5 at least)

Let me also add that the H2GT has a tremendous deep and textured soundstage! If the track has the information and your DAC has the ability to extract that information, you're in for a real treat! It's not 3-D, like you get in a ZMF headphone. It's a combination of instrument localization and time of flight reverb. Sounds bouncing off and reflecting off surfaces as they disappear into the environment. Really immersive experience!

agreed, it’s not as immediately impressive as susvara because it doesn’t have the fake soundstage 2k dip, but once you get over that it does staging very well

Can it compete with fun sounding v shaped headphones? I could not find a more fun sounding headphone than Final D7000 yet. I haven’t tried Caldera.

I like it a lot better than Caldera. Caldera did vocals really well but that was about it for me. It had some sort of peak in the treble that I didn’t agree with. D8000 I haven’t tried. I would say it’s as “fun” as the clear/utopia and a bit more “fun” than my arya stealth (while outresolving all of those)

the bass is really something on these, it’s almost like dynamic driver bass tonality with planar bass technicalities. never heard anything like it. People said that about caldera but that sounded like a planar to me through and through
