An excellent amp, in the top 10 for sure...

This morning I am using the Schiit Jotenheim with the HEDDS and it works very well with them in LOW and HIGH gain. Going thru a dozen amps this morning testing...

Balanced the Jot puts out almost 5 watts...which is pretty good for a head amp..

The Schiit Magni 3 will play these cans very well for $99....

I have a high current SS amp that really makes this zing...

Btw I’m wondering, it doesn’t sound bright at all!
I thought it would sound brighter according to what I read from ppl saying that it’s very open and revealing in the treble region

It’s funny you describe the, that way, because the Clears (or in my case, Elex’s) have been described as super-HD-650s. And, in the case of the Heddphone, I agree with your assessment, with the caveat that they bring the HD-650 “veil” back a bit, while at he same time, being even more detailed than the Elex. I like them.

It’s super revealing w/o being bright in the slightest!!
Gives it that natural feel. Perfect neutrality.
But the 650 has better timbre and are a hell of a lot more comfortable!!!

I would not put these in the same class as the 650...it’s not even in the lobby.

Uh...I have both right in front of me.
Obviously the HEDDphone is the better one but for some reason, idk how to say this but sennheiser has a certain magic which no other headphone has (at least that I’ve heard) they know how to give u the “emotion” of the song in such an amazing way!!!
It’s just incredible!!!!
It’s much easier for me to start tearing to an emotional song with the 650 over the HEDDphone.

Btw I also have the hd 540 reference 1 600 ohm version which is wayyyy better than the 650 especially when it comes to timbre and realism!!
Those headphones are so natural sounding, it makes the HEDDphone sounds crappy when it comes to symphonies!!!
