Would someone who attended the Headfi meet please take pity on those of us who couldn't
and share a writeup on the eight Headroom prototypes that Tyll said he'd show?

yea can someone please share some info. ive been dying to know what tyll has in store for us. only thing i ever saw anything about was some ultra micro dac. i also think i read somewhere that they might be offering a standalone home dac, i have no idea if though, they might be the same product.

I'll try to give you a quick quick version of what I remember...

Speaker stands - metal, super sturdy/nice looking. Come with an optional headphone holder
smily_headphones1.gif
Made for desk use primarily. Tiltable.

Balanced desktop...sounds great, and there are endless forums on it.

Micro portable...one box solution to the Micro Amp/Micro DAC stack. Very small (perhaps half the thickness of the micro DAC). Works as both a DAC and an amp, is supposed to have *nearly* the quality of the Amp/DAC stack, only about 1/4-1/3 as big. Similar price range to the stack.

New micro something...can't remember the name, but it is basically a roughly 6" x 9" amp (about half the thickness of the old micro DAC) that is portable. Here's the catch - it has Max modules in it! It is aiming to be the BEST PORTABLE AMP that money can buy. ($1000 or so)

Desktop stack (?) - something similar to the older micro amp/DAC stack, only it is not portable and sounds way better...

Hmm, that's all I can think of...sorry I didn't take any notes. They all sounded excellent for their respective classes.

Thanx, MontanaJustin. The "New micro something" with "Max modules . . . aiming to be the BEST PORTABLE AMP that money can buy. ($1000 or so)" sounds VERY interesting. Tyll's been burnin' the midnight oil.

Nice descriptions, it would be nice if someone had pictures of these.

Tyll,
perhaps you or others could post some specifics on these pieces, please.

I saw a few pics posted in the HeadFest meet impressions thread:

http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showth...=236593&page=2

I'm sure there's more lying around the threads in the 2007 Head-Fi Meet forum.

Also the new MicroAmp is supposed to have MUCH MUCH better battery life (i think it's supposd to run on Lithium rechargables?).

I was about to go to bed but i got curious. I found some more that AMB took during the meet. These are much clearer.

Oh and here's some more from a link that Voltron posted:

You can see the new MicroAmp and the UberMicro next too it at the far right.

Since Tyll mentioned these are still prototypes, I'm curious to see if the enclosures will change in anyway. Personally i think they look great as is

I did get a chance to listen to the new Micro at the meet and it did sound great on my E4s. This may well be my next portable amp

Then i can relegate my current MicroStack exclusively to my work desk. (I do go portable with it inside my messenger bag but it's bulky {Sounds fantastic though!})

Tyll,
Photos are nice,
but can you at least give us as much information about your eight prototypes
as you gave folks at the show.
Thanks, and congratulations for what sounds like a terrific time.
