Pardon my ignorance but can one hook-up HeadRoom Micro Amp & X1HA-EPx Portable Amp for use on my PC or is that overkill?
If advisable what would be the best method?(wannabe audiophile)

Yes, you can connect either of those amps to your PC provided that PC has a line-out (or headphone output if you don't have line-out). You will need the appropriate interconnect cable. Most likely, you will need a cable with mini-stereo jacks on both ends like this one. Just make sure you get one which is long enough.

Keep in mind that the PC is noisy. After connecting the amp to your PC, if you hear noise, it's coming from the PC. You can get a better sound card or device to mitigate. If you haven't already, browse the Computer-as-source forum for information on setting up your PC as a source.

Since you have a H120, you may want to think about getting a Micro DAC. You can utilize the optical out of your H120 and connect it to the Micro DAC which then will connect to your amp. Micro DAC also has USB input which allows it to be connected to the PC. Windows will automatically install the necessary driver so the Micro DAC can be used as another sound device.

It´s not overkill if you have an X-fi or better...

I had issues with noise on my X-meridian and old X-fi (but I suspect the X-fi is boorked). With my X-fi Elite Pro absolutely no noise whatsoever.

That is a great choice if you are gaming and watching movies as well as listening to music. Just listening to music EMU 0404 is cheaper and then you get another amp to play with lol.
