Headphones you regretted buying the most

I didn't liked the 1st gen momentum over ears from sennheiser because of the small ear pad...
my ears were cramped because of the small earpads not covering my ear entirely.. as it felt it was supra-aural, not circumaural.
so yeah, I had to return it.

Exactly!! And the fact that the bass was slow and muddy combined with a veiled treble. Couldn't return it fast enough.

Tie between the Klipsch S4 iems and Sennheiser HD700. Both terrible for classical. Very veiled and unclear. Couldn't get rid of them fast enough.

Ultrasone hfi 780. They genuinely hurt to wear, sounded awful anyway.

Also focal spirit classic, uncomfortable, but I did manage to flip them for a profit. They were a very poor choice for electronic music as well.

For me, it was the Sennheiser HD600. I was actually happy with them. Long story short, I ended up comparing my 600 to a pair of Grado RS1.

I remember feeling nauseous, as I was thinking to myself, ''oh crap!, I bought the wrong headphones''. I couldn't believe the amount of details that I was missing with the 600, and was now able to hear clearly with the RS1.

Able Planet NC300B noise cancelling headphones. The sound was decent enough for the price I paid, but they were cheaply made. After 5 months of fighting to keep the cans up and running I gave up and pitched them in the trash.

The NC300B got me started in this hobby, so I can't say I regret buying it. It was the first step of what has been an enjoyable (albeit expensive) journey.

Shure SE425, after buying Full Size Open back, they just don't compare. I felt like it could have been money that went towards a better amp/another pair of open backs...etc. I've used it once since I've bought it and now it just sits in my drawer collecting dust. I can't return it because Sweetwater doesn't offer returns for IEMs.

AKG Y50 -- What were the reviewers at whathifi.com thinking? They did not compare them to the AKG K518 LE.   With the Y50, the bottom bass may be better, the one-sided detachable cable was nice, but the mid's sounded like they were in a tin can.  I sold them on Ebay.soon after getting them.

AKG 702's

Why? 2 reasons.

1. They sounded much wider and had a lot more detail than my DT770 Pro 80's.

2. They had no bass. NONE. Even when turning up the BASS dial and the parametric EQ on my amp. So I had to go back to my DT 770 Pro 80's. Which are awesome...BUT because of the AKG's I now see their lack of soundstage and clarity.

If only I could find a headphone with the clarity, soundstage, and immense detail of the AKG crossed with the epic sub bass of the DT's. That would be the HOLY GRAIL for me.

Top of the line custom IEM's from Westone. Broke and fixed twice while under warranty.

Broke again as soon as the warranty period was over. Stayed broke. Worst $1,000.00 I ever spent...and that was with a 35% discount for buying them via a Head-Fi sponsored group tour of the facility where they are made.

Never, ever, again...

AKG K701 and Sennheiser HD 800 gave me little to no joy.
