Headphones vs. Earphones

I'm kind of curious, but it seems that headphones are much cheaper than earphones on a same sound basis. Is this true?

Well, you're never really going to get headphone sound with earphones, and due to the nature and location of earphone drivers, it's relatively difficult to get decent sound out of them compared to regular headphone drivers. So basically, yeah.

Also keep in mind that much of what you're paying for is the isolation and portability in addition to the sound.

Yes, that is the truth. The biggest compromise in my opinion is the soundstage.
