Headphones Vs. Caraudio

Just like with headphones you can do some proper research and put together a decent system for a fair price. However, I don't think the two really should be compared. One you do at home, with your attention on just the music and no other sound around. The other you do while driving a noisy vehicle through a potentially noisy environment with your attention not always to the music.

my previous car audio system on a 4 door sedan Honda Civic
1) Dynaudio 2 way front speakers installed on kick panel
2) Kicker SoloBaric 12' enclosed with .77 cuft sealed box x2, placed inside trunk
3) Alpine head unit, AudioControl signal processors (EQX, line driver)
4) Hifonics series Vlll 200wpc amp for Dyns + Hifonics series Vlll 300wpc for kicker subs
5) Caps 1MuF for 200wpc amp + Caps 1.6MuF for 300wpc amp
6) power cables directly connected to battery posts including (-), no body grounding
7) Dynamat to reduce possible noise

result:
1) real soundstage, staging & imaging, centering was no problem for driver (me).. tested through IASCA test disc
2) tested at 136+db SPL yet no trunk rattle .. no boomy/bloated bass
3) rta test showed 16hz reading up to 20khz
4) no noise, no humming.. road & engine noise cancelled with ease

music oftentimes holographic in presentation despite on 2.2 config only (no rear satellite speakers).. telarc and sheffield lab music CDs revealing & pleasing with HiFi SQ

expensive ? yes
my car audio 2.2 has magic like a high end 2.1 home audio system

a very good car audio system better than headphones ? as per my actual experience it is
