Hi everybody, this is my first time posting here. I'm still a newbie so bear with me
smily_headphones1.gif

I'm looking for a good set of headphones, for around $180 (or less). I listen to a lot of classical, Folk, Classic Rock, Hard Rock, hip-hop. Prtty much everthing. I also want to use them for movies and Xbox for night time when I can't blast my Paradigm setup (live in an apartment). I'm also taking a few music courses in University next semester so I will be doing some critical listening. More importnantly they should just be enjoyable to listen to. So far the only model(s) I have taken interest too are the Sennheiser HD 580 and HD 590. Thanks!

Forgot to mention these will be used for just at home. So size is not an issue. Infact I would prefer a larger headphone, one that cups my whole ears, but must be comfortable. I will also be useing these for the computer too!

What will they primarily be used with? Also any amps or just a headphone out?

And welcome to Head-fi.

As in Components? I use High end seperates in my HT. Rotel RSP-1066 is my pre-amp/pro. I will be getting an external amp for my headphones.

The Audio-Technica ATH-A900 "Art Monitor" headphones are well liked for rock, and would be more easily driven by a non-amp system....they sell for 185 on audiocubes, and without shipping...but they're worth it...I have the A500's but everyone's had a positive view of the A900.
