Right I'm going to tip my toes into the headphone world. I don't want to spend to much to start. I want to see how much I will use it first. I work from home so no commute to work where a lot of people get there music listening done.

I have a broad music taste so would prefer a more balanced sound but if not I thinking I would rather open bright sound over a prominent low end.on or over ear.

Short list so far are recommendations from CNET. Moontec zoro,Monoprice 8323,JVC HA-S500,Philips CitiScape Downtown, koss porta pro.

Any more I should consider.

Thank you i will keep that in mind.

Even after saying i do not want to much bass. I've clocked the klipsch one headphones on amazon uk for an incredible £20 they retailed for £120 here. They have good reviews everywhere and that's at full price. However they all say its to much bass. Could this be adjusted with a equilizer? Surely given the oringinal retail price they will resolve more detail than the cheaper ones i've mentioned?

I have never heard the One.  However, do not buy cans that are not at least close to the sound signature you prefer.  Double down on that if they are bass heavy and you don't prefer bass heavy cans.  EQing can be helpful to tweak the sound but is very poor at changing the core of what it is.
