I'm normally use my Sennheisers, but I find myself using my girlfriends sr80s from time to time. I would more, but they are extremely uncomfortable compared to my hd650s. Are there any alternative brands that have similar "front row" style sound, but are comfortable and don't look dorky?

i'd say that senns look dorkier than grados, but it's all in taste i guess

Some people might have problem with that word being used in the same sentence with "Grados"....

Nothing else sounds like a Grado.

A Headphile c-padded grado might do it for you. Not really an improvement in the looks (IMHO) but in many ways increases comfort.

Are you in it for the looks or for the sound?
I think Grados look pretty darn cool, a lot cooler than senns or beyers. But thats just me.

I comletly agree with you, straigh old school classic look. The senn and beyer can't compare, got some vintage love.

Sound. And I wish I could say that with 100% assurance, but I guess I'm not hardcore enough. The grados are just too uncomfortable. I will admit they sound damn good though. I wish I could put up with it. I just don't understand what the hell Grado is thinking selling a headphone that feels that grating against the ear!

So, Grado, if you are listening (and I'm sure you come to this forum once in awhile). I am taking hundreds of dollars to another company instead of you because your headphones are terribly uncomfortable. And I'm not the only one.

grado has its own signature that doesn't compare to any other brand. i find that the lower end grados such as the SR60 and MS1 tend to be the most comfortable. on the other end, the RS1 with the bowls are also comfortable as they're so light.

This review compared the Goldring DR150 to Grados (edit: in various ways). Of course how much these or any cans "sound like" Grados would be a matter of opinion. But after owning the SR80, I would find it hard to believe any cans "sound a lot like" Grados.
