I know what you're thinking, "Oh no! not another beats thread..." I would like to say first off i am not interested in beats by dre, i just want to ask something.
I always hear people say that the Beats Solo HD are really bad for $200 (which they are) and you can get headphones for around $50 or under that sound better, does anyone know of any examples of headphones that actually do sound better for under $50?
Apart from HD201

Monoprice 8323. It's not perfect, but it's super cheap and sounds better than the Beats Solo. I was surprised by how good they sounded, to be honest. And they're built very well for the price.

Agreed. Monoprice really did a good job on these headphones. They are $25 bucks and sound BETTER than the Solo HD.

I can't say if the XB500's are better than the Beats Solos (Since I haven't heard them), but they are certainly better than the Beats Studios. Probably just a little worse than the Beats Pro, though.

AKG K81/518 with inner foams removed.

PX100 (No isolation, big bass and very fun sounding.

Portapro (No isolation.)

Philips SHP6000 (A bit of isolation, sounds better than you expect and looks more expensive than you think.)

Philips SHP5401 (Just search it, it's a little gem.)

This is all found at or below the 50 euro/Dollar mark and there is more...

(Please don't mention the Monster endorsed headphone again. For me it is only worthy of the garbage bin.)

I don't know if you still care to know, but I just picked up a pair of mdr-v6 sony studio headphones, and these things sound on the level or better than beats pro which is their highest offering. These are probably the one of the best headphones you can find for the value. they also respond well to EQing
