Excluding inear canalphones and the such, are there any good headphones that don't muss up your hair? Right now I have the KSC-35s for that purpose, but I'm wondering if there is anything higher end, possibly a closed headphone of somesort?

I was going to recommend KSC75s.... but looks like youve got that design covered with your 35....

IMHO its easier to name my cans that do mess up hair..

DT770
V6
HP-2000 (Maxell)
UR40
ATH-900

I really cant think of any... maybe D66/77s... that kind of headband design.
I have some MDRCD-870s coming in the mail, but I doubt the're much different than the HP-2000 headband design.

I think the two characteristics: good headphones, don't mess up your hair, are mutually exclusive.

However, I must say my hair is impervious to my good set of cans (AT.) It helps being a skin head

Sorry, this posting didn't help one bit, did it!

(Edit: What a coincidence, kramer5150, your avatar features a cut rather similar to mine!

I wish that WERE a cut.... my kid was BALD up to about 11 months. He's 2.5 now and we've cut his hair, maybe 4-5 times. 2 of those cuts were more like a little trim.

Poor kid... male pattern baldness really sucks

I have a set of the e3cs that do a nice job, but I dunno, they have that "muffled" canalphone sound instead of the open "open" headphone sound that come out of my KSC-35s or the Grados I've listened to ?

I don't know if you have notice, but there are decidingly more people out there that are bald by choice. So don't sweat it, if he has got a well formed skull - it's not a disadvantage. It is an "attitude!"

In fact I hear rumours that large percentage of the fairer half of the population actually find it "intriguing."

More importantly, @Head-Fi, it is the music that matters!

On that note, having no hair would improve the seal of the pads with the head, and improve the bass response!

So shave for sound!

HD595 (so I guess the HD555), due to the different headband 'curve' than the HD650/600/580.

Grado's don't mess up my hair, but my hair is kind of long... the 35's are probably your best bet, or canal/bud's but your'e opposed to them. I guess it depends on what kind of hairstyle you have. If worse comes to worse you could always shave a stripe across your head for your headband to lay.

:edit:
I don't know if they sound any good but the Koss Sporta Pro's headband flips back to act like streetstyle phones.

While it may not be for every one bald is the way to go.When I was a kid many years ago when the Beatles first came out I thought having long hair was a must. It is funning what we get use to now I am bald by choice and I would never go back.By the way works great with Grados or Senns.Just a thought may not be for you.

Yeah, this "headphone hair" still is a concern of mine as well.

I love my HD595 but it's a little heavy and it won't stay on properly without the top of the head band sitting on my head... which then messes up my 'do. I use it strictly at home now when I'm in bed.

At work, I'm currently using ear buds but I'm not thrilled with the SQ. I'm thinking about canal phones in the near future.

I found that I can wear the SR60 without the headband resting on my head. It is light enough that just the pressure on my ears will hold it up. This works best with the comfort pads and only in short sessions (less than an hour) as your ears might ache.

My suggestion: Cut your hair short and get some good headphones.

My hair is relatively short -- no more than 2" long at the top, but I like to style it... I have an embarassing confession, but I appreciate the members of the opposite sex nearly as much as I do good audio
