Headphones sound muted when plugged in to PC speakers

I recently bought some Logitech Z-3 2.1 speakers that sound great but when I connect my headphones to the base where the volume knob is, the volume is considerably lower. Is this a fault of the speakers or am I doing something wrong? My old cheap 2 piece speakers didn't do this so I'm thinking its the new speakers. Thanks.

i have logitech z640s and use that. the volume knob on the speakers adjusts the speakers only.

if you plug you headphones into the speakers you have to adjust the volume via the sys tray.

thats prolly your issue.
