Hey,
I need a pair of headphones/earbuds that can block out the sounds of heavy machinery and chainsaws. They need extreme isolation and need to be cheap, under $75 preferred, and sturdy because they will be getting very dirty and tossed about.

From what I have read the best option seems to be the Rock It Sounds R-Shield but I figured I should ask for more opinions on the matter in case there is something else I should be looking at.

Do you think It would be better to get a pair of ear buds and wear them under my Earmuffs instead of getting the Rock It Sounds R-Shield?

My main concern with the Rock It Sounds R-Shield is the $40 shipping cost making them almost $100.
Where as I could buy a pair of earmuffs for $25 and a pair of cheap buds for <$50. Though I'm not sure how comfortable it would be to have that combo on.

Yes, I think so. If you get earphones that are not too big, it shouldn't be a problem with comfort.
My advice would be to get detachable cables so you can replace those if they break. Cables are usually the weakest point of IEMs (In Ear Monitors).

The MEE audio M6 PRO is a cheap option with detachable cables of high quality AND a lifetime replacement program! See this link: http://www.meelec.com/Articles.asp?ID=363
