Well, I've been through quiet a few pairs and I'm starting to get really pissed off. I've been through about 4 pairs, and they've all been cause by portable devices. Such as my PSP and MP3. They all break in the way that sound stops coming out of one ear. I think it may have been bent somewhere, probably at the front. But is there any solution for this problem? Is there a pair out there that doesn't break?

Some cable must have propably been ripped off somewhere because of too extended young male's motoricity, right?

If it's the same side every time, I would check your source. Other wise you might be tugging the cables with too much force. Find a way to relieve stress on the place where the cable meets the enclourse maybe add a small dab of paper glue to relieve stress at that point. otherwise buy a soldiering iro and get handy with it.

I bet they were all cheap headphones to begin with. Once you start dropping some coin these issues don't occur. It's frequent with junk below the $50 mark.

You could fold a loop of the cable against the edge of the cable-no sharp angles- and then put a rubber band around the player. That way any pull would be at the rubber band. Are you treating the headphones gently?

That sounds like your problem right there. Sleepers aren't known to be delicate with their equipment...

Which particular headphones are you referring to, by the way? No need to keep it a mystery.

Depending on themes and intensity of your nightly dreams, it's no wonder that you keep slaughtering these cheap fons. Organisize yourself some AKG K518, they are built like tanks.

Don't fall asleep with you phones!
Try setup a camera at night and see what happens.

Gentle on where the cord might get stretched, especially near the base of the cord (connector)

it's because he's using cheap headphones!!!!!! This used to happen to me all the time to me when I was a kid back in junior high and high school. If you get nice ones it wont happen. Simple as that!
