(This may be in the wrong section, if so, sorry!)

Hello Head-Fi!

I plan to buy the SoundMagic PL50's from HK and bring them back to Canada through flight.

Are there hidden costs, customs fees or any other fees that I may have to face when going through customs?

If so, how should I avoid them if possible?

Thank you!

It depends where you are ordering from

I bought my Brainwavz M1's from MP4nation, took 3 months but I got them with the free shipping with no hidden costs.

They mostly go through the national postal service, so if it's by Fedex, it will need a import cost. If it's from (canadian postal service) it would be free.

Oh sorry, about that.
I'm actually travelling to HK this summer.

I'm not suggesting that you do anything less than legal... but if you declare them for their full value, depending on the length of your stay, you will have to pay customs (HST at bare minimum).

However, if you just happen to have a pair of headphones in your carry-on luggage, and you don't say anything, who is to say that you didn't bring them with you?

If you want the box, you can just mail it to yourself for much less than customs would be.

Yeah, carry on shouldn't give you any problems.

But then again, I've never traveled over-seas with luggage.
