How I listen:
  1. Music (generally) Rock, blues, folk, country, acoustic, podcasts
  2. I use a Mac laptop, or an iPhone
  3. FLAC/WAV - mostly mp3 though at work
  4. I use the on-board DAC with whatever device i'm listening to
    1. I'd like to change that in the future
  5. I don't use an amp right now
    1. I'd like to get one at some point, i'd like a headphone that'll sound good without one, and better with one (i guess).

What have I tried:
  1. AKG K271 mkii's - at home.
    1. The sound quality is great for me, and i really like how i can wear them for extended periods of time (they're light and my ears don't get hot the way they do with some headphones).
  2. Commuting: Cheap Sony earbuds
    1. They break every 18 months or so and i get another pair. I've been using these while i'm at work and I want to get something closer to my home setup that i can leave at work.
  3. Bose QC35s - i recently bought some in an attempt to solve this problem and returned them after a few days
    1. The Bluetooth audio quality was frustrating
    2. Lots of drops and clicks (like BT signal drops when the phone is 2 feet away from the headphones)
    3. They get hot. After wearing them for an hour my head's hot and my ears are sweaty.

I'd be happy buying another pair of AKGs, i don't want to buy the same ones i have already though. Any recommendation for another set of AKGs, or something similar in terms of weight, comfort, and sound quality?
  1. Since i'm in an office I don't want an open-back phone, and i like over-ear.
  2. I don't need noise cancelling - i thought it'd be good but it drove me crazy.
  3. I don't need a mic or integrated play/pause/volume. i'm not against them but i don't need them.
  4. I don't have a firm budget, i'm willing to spend to get a good set but i'm not looking to blow money for little advantage

ttt - looking for recommendations for something complimentary to an AKG 271 mkii for use at work.
Unless you have big ears the Meze 99 Classics are great closed back headphones and very good looking also.
