I am looking for economical headphones for the Sansa Clip +. The ear buds that came with it aren't good. I also tried some Sony ones for $15. The Sansa doesn't drive them loud enough at times. I usually have to play near full volume. I would like to try some over the ear phones. Like to get something around $50 CND.

I'm not sure if the problem is the headphones or the Sansa. How high of an impedance will work with this player? I was thinking of getting a pair of Koss at a local store, but need to know which ones I can use. Also like other suggestions.

Thanks,

Joe

IIRC Clip+ outputs 15mW into 16 ohms. If you like math and can find the right specs, can calculate yourself a headphones' approx ideal output power - some references: http://blog.jdslabs.com/2015/06/power-is-volume/ http://www.shure.com/americas/support/find-an-answer/understanding-earphone-headphone-specifications

Personally wouldn't be too concerned about it (except with more specialized audiophile/pro cans). Just to refresh memory, pulled my old Clip+ out- I listened far, far below max volume with Koss portaPro, 60ohm/-101dB and Beyerdynamic dt1350 80ohm/-109dB. Mine is Rockboxed, but don't think it would get any louder than w/ the Sansa firmware if the settings are correct.

If you can't get enough volume either those are some oddly spec'd Sonys or something is set wrong/broken (do they get loud out of phone or PC?).

Thanks for reply. The Sony earphones are cheap earphones. They don't get really much louder on my PC. I think I will look at one of the Koss or Senheiser. They should have enough volume. How are the phones you use for travel on a bus for noise isolation?

If I remember well, there may be a volume cap for Europe law compliance. On initial setup did the player ask about region? Try to set it for US or anything but not Europe.
And Rockbox it! You'll unlock a bunch new features.
I used my Clip+ in the past with Koss Porta Pro, KSC75 and various other lower impedance headphones with no problem.
