Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution

I have an AloAudio PanAm tube amp with the corresponding power source, I think its called passport from what I remember on top of my head.. I never had a problem driving a headphone with it, but I am not sure if it will suffice for the HE-6SE. Do you have any experience with that?
quick google search brought an article up with an original He6 and he did state that the PanAm didnt like the Hifiman

He6Se Thread

depends on what you are searching for in your Music Dude, if you want your Planar slam on the cheap the 1060c are a decent choise, i my self got a used pair denon ah d7200 for good bass and suprisingly desend soundstage for a closed pair
If I could find a 7200 or similar Fostex for sub $500 that would be AMAZING.

Thanks for the link. Guess I'll remove the he6 from my list.. Been reluctant with hifiman anyway..

I wish there would be a way to test the kennerton headphones in germany..

The denon I've been looking at by from what the internet tells me they are similar to the Magister pro.

So have we had any new entries into the "warm sub-$500 closed back" scene or are we still sticking with the Meze 99 Classic?

Hi everyone!

Any opinions on KZ ZS10 Pro? People mentioned they are great Intro Metal IEMs. But I'm worried about the piercing highs with them, as I listen to a lot of Symphonic Metal. Maybe the Blon BL03 will work instead...

Hi,

I'm looking for a good set of cans for metal in the price range of $200-400. So far I'm considering BEYERDYNAMIC DT770 PRO (80 Ohms), Meze 99 or Grado SR80x. May consider spending a bit more for the BEYERDYNAMIC DT 177X GO if they are much better compared to the cheaper Beyer option. I mostly listen to Black, Death and Prog but I more or less listen to all metal genres (excluding Nu of course). Which ones do you recommend? As far as an amp I'm considering the DX3 Pro or DROP O2.

Also I compiled a massive best of metal list not too long ago, I'm sure you could find some hidden gems in there: https://docs.google.com/document/d/17-M5n0822hiPaKbS8krSBDYcpNt5_IUCwPbPERzc7k8/edit

Thank you for your help.

Don't know much about that price point but I'm definitely checking out that list, thanks!

soundwise i can recommend both but thats comming from someone that did have dt990 for a few years , so Blonds are the safer choise.
But my biggest problem with both is the fitment in my oppinion KZ have a realitve big nossle and housing -> so if other IEMs are uncomfortable for you size wise look for another one (for compairision TA Legacy 3 do fit good for me) and the BL03 have simply a weird shape cant get them to fit right for me

I say Nectar Hive. It's an electrostatic headphone. Neutral to pleasantly smooth frequency response. Very fast and clean. It has some punch on the bass too. Works better than some planar magnetic headphones because the treble is so damn smooth (neutral). If the song is recorded a bit bad. Some say it's better that SR-009 but I dont know because I haven't listened that high priced headphone ever.

Really happy to see the Hemp does well with metal. I’m getting my Hemps tomorrow. With braided cable upgrade to reflect the price. Not sure if it has the new x drivers. But I’m not worried about it.
I found the hemps to be hit and miss with metal. They can be a bit spiky/harsh with high gain distorted guitars and metal vocals. No regrets buying them, but I find them to really excel at singer/songwriter or vocal based acoustic type stuff.
