Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution

I'm enjoying my Heavys H1H more than my Grados and LCD-XC these days.
These are quite laid back and no fatiguing at all but it responds to its App EQ very well.
What I like most about it is its bass. Its strong but doesn't muddy up other freq ranges.
Its bass sound very linear and goes deep which I don't get from my Grados.
Bands like Suffocation, Harm's way, Neckbreakker slam so hard with H1H.

I hope these get more attention in this thread :)

Hmmm I'm glad you enjoy them. I own them as well... there's a reason they don't get more attention.

Well, incase someone finds this useful.
I have tried many headphones for metal and so far by far the best ones imo are HE1000 Stealth and Susvara.
This is a good illustration of individual preference, when I listened to the Susvara, I didn't prefer them at all for metal. I thought they were too bright and lacked impactful sub and mid-bass. I suppose it would be dependent on the type of metal and recording quality, but after 20 minutes and 3-4 different artists, I knew they weren't for me. I've never tried the HE1000 though - I settled on the Arya Organic, which I think is excellent for metal. Though some find them too bright - I've never experienced that.

I think with most Hifiman headphones (Arya and up) it comes down to Amp & DAC pairings with them. My Arya Stealth has more bass and slam powered by my Mjolnir 3 vs others amps I have tried in the past (Asgard 3, Topping L70, Soloist 3XP, Vali 3). Granted that it won't completely change the headphone's underlying characteristics, but it can improve upon them.

I do agree on the brightness part. Tho for metal i found it to be less of a problem. Maybe because I am more into industrial or electronic side of it.
I do add a small bass shelf tho, especially on susvara. Helps a lot.

And the Maxwell? I am planar fan but I also need a good isolating closed one which I can use in different rooms. Would u recommend it?

I owned the R70x which was very good for smaller heads and ears. A counterpart for the XS.
