Fellow lovers of metal; have you any favorite albums for testing your gear? As we all know metal recordings don't always have the best production. I'd love to find out what albums in particular people find have excellent production or otherwise exceptional sound quality.... Something to crank up and really listen with intent. What's your go-to when you want the full experience?

Owning an HE6se v2, LCD-X, Grado Hemp, and Atticus - with respect to Metal (generically speaking) - I'm going to have to vote for the Atticus, followed by the HE6se (EQed to Harmon).

Will also +1 the Gojira (I love from mars to sirius) and ghost of reveries suggestions. I've been enjoying the new Mastodon album, which I wouldn't say is super audiophile sounding in terms of absolute clarity, but has a very warm and enveloping, almost romantic sound that I have been enjoying since it came out. It's on the proggier side of things though if you don't like that. I've found that my favorite gear is able to bring out the beauty in this album (which is otherwise kind of slow and some might say boring) without overemphasizing anything undesirable.

My playlist for headphone testing features songs like:
Avenged Sevenfold - Shepherd of Fire
Jinjer - Pisces
Myrath - Monster in my Closet
Demons & Wizards - Diabolic
Dream Theater - The Dance of Eternity
Opeth - Ghost of Perdition
Allegaeon - Gray Matter Mechanics
Orphaned Land - The Cave
All of these are great songs IMO, and generally well recorded, each covering a different aspect, e.g. driving bass in the A7X song, and imaging in the Dance of Eternity.
