First of all, I apologize if this question has been asked thousands of times.

I'm looking for a pair of headphones that are good with music and gaming, and preferably below £120 approximately.

I've done lots of research and I've narrowed it down to 3 contenders:

Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO
Audio Technica ATH-A900
Sennheiser HD595

Is there any others I should consider, and if not which of the 3 above would be the better choice? Also, do I need any sort of adapter for any of those to connect it directly to a sound card.

Thanks, Ford.

I have just been through this and I can say nobody will give u the definitive answer ur lookin for, on account of its personal preference and the only way to be sure is to audition them, as it is I was unable so, its a safe bet to hit the HD595, no adapter needed, and good with good soundcards, which card will u be insulting these with may I ask?

Also AD700's can be considered.

Its a decent card, excellent for positional audio via headphones in gaming.

DT770PRO - no idea aside that it needs an amp to sound their best.

A900 - I've used them and I can say their plenty good for gaming. The bass is more bloated than I'd like though.

HD595 - seems like a safe bet. Also open for better amps/dac IIRC.

Try to audition them to be sure. I'd also suggest the AD900 - very nice for gaming and great for music un-amped. Fast punchy bass and clear highs.

Get something with a large, forward soundstage for good synergy with the X-Fi. HD595 or ATH AD700 / AD900 spring to mind (not A700, A900).
