I'm no audiophile but i've been trying to research a great upgrade to my current audio. I'm having alot of trouble finding anything that fits exactly what i'm looking for. I love the sound clarity, positioning, and comfort on my SHP9500 but i'm looking for some even more fun\louder bass! Upgrades to any other aspect of the audio would also be nice as well.

What i'm looking for in a few words: Competitive gaming headphones(imaging wise) that can be EQ bass boosted, if wanted, to near or at basshead levels, even if that sacrifices its competitiveness.
Comfort is important.
I don't mind getting a dac\amp as well.
Total budget: $300(much lower is fine too)
Either open or closed are fine.

Soundmagic HP200 is better then the DT990.

Do you need a mic for gaming ? If yes => Beyerdynamic MMX300
But i havn't heard the mentioned Soundmagic HP200 which @PurpleAngel recommends.
If the HP200 is better than the DT990, it might be also better than the MMX300, but i haven't compared them both.

MMX300 = DT790 "DT770 + microphone"
... but DT790 and MMX300 are missing the vent holes of the DT770, so they're missing the lowest bass notes.
Better than MMX300 for gaming + EDM is Beyerdynamic Custom Game One... which is simply a Custom One with a mic cable.

TLDR - don't get MMX300 for gaming and EDM... not enough bass.

So I bought the MDR-1AM2's and so far they closely trade blows with my SHP9500's when it comes to sound quality. The imaging so far seems to be the same as 9500's. The sound quality\clarity is similar if not a little bit worse. The bass is really good from what I can tell. The bass doesn't rattle your head and doesn't affect the rest of the sound. These are pretty bright for me and 's' sounds seem to get some distortion. The brightness can be too much if you don't turn down the volume.

In general, EDM sounds better on these but with the brightness sometimes being a caveat for me. Gaming seems to sound more fun and I believe the competitiveness should be about the same. Comfort is actually about the same because they are so light and clamp is just enough to stay on your head!

Does it sound like a good place to end my search or should I try the recommendations in this thread?

Try looking into V-Moda M100,with the thicker pads for comfort. They come with a mic,and have serious bass response. Never tried gaming with them,so you might want to read up on that.
You can also look into Fidelio X2. Very wide staging,+bass, pretty comfortable. I use the X1 for gaming with no complaints.
You can also try getting a Taction Kannon. Ridiculous bass, comes with a mic too. Imaging is only so-so,but that bass!

The MMX300 (closed headphone) is a Beyer DT770, with a built in mic.

I explained already that mx300 is not a dt770 with a mic.
It's much closer to dt790, as it is missing the dt770 vents that provide the low bass extension.

I never knew there was a DT790.

Hey guys i'm starting to think that maybe the DT770 pros or the Custom One Pro Plus are a good bassy and gamey headphones. Which one has louder\more punchy bass?

BTW i'm also researching in all the recommendations here. If I had a way to test out all these headphones I certainly would.

Soundmagic HP151 is better then the DT770 (IMHO).

I just bought the COP's to try em out, but I will try to see if I can try out those as well. How is the comfort on the two sound magics you recommended? Thanks for the recommendation.
Both the Soundmagic HP151 (closed) and Soundmagic HP200 (open) headphones are comfortable to wear.
