I'm in the middle of making this decision.  My decision has mainly come down to:
 
Philips Citiscape Downtown ($70) vs Sony MDR-ZX700 ($80) vs Creative Aurvana Live! ($100) (all prices from Amazon)
 
It is to be noted that the Downtowns are on-ear (supra-aural) vs over-ear (circumaural), but I thought I'd mention them anyway.
 
Of course, I haven't tried any of these - they were just my conclusions from my research.  You can read the thread that I started on this subject here if you want more advice:

I have the BRAINWAVZ HM5 which are the same headphones with extra things bundled in the package. The pads are unlike any headphones I have demoed; they are extremely soft and comfortable. The only comfort issue that I could bring up is the initial clamping force which does make your jaw tired at first. The headphones are flat, but because of that they can be equalized to your preference.
 
The Jaycar is an extremely good deal considering you still get the headphones packaged in a nice carrying case. The wires are detachable too which is another plus.

The Citiscapes actually don't sound too bad. They are both recommended by Jude and Tyll, and they are on Innerfidelity's wall of fame under supra-aural closed headphones. IMO they are a great value for $70.

The Downtowns were raved about as the "best value in head-fi" at CES2012 by both Jude (the founder of the headfi) and Tyll (the founder of innerfidelity).  They're certainly more than a fashion statement.

I've been trying to find this out myself... they haven't received nearly as much buzz as the Downtown.  From what I've seen, some people think they have better highs, and others think they actually sound worse and cavernous because of how hollow their earcups are.  Also, the Uptowns take a lot of crap for having the inline volume control, which no one seems to like.
