I need some decent portable headphone wires for tinkering around with. I want something a tad better than spider web gauge conductors, but with good limpness.

Cannibalizing a set of cheap phones for the wire is an option.

I did see quite a selection of wire on ebay, (nothing headphone specific), but I'm not sure what to look for in terms of guage, etc.

Johnswireshop on ebay is superb, a great selection of nice cables, very cheap and he is very easy to deal with. So many people use his shop, he could be a sponsor here. I was pointed to his shop by a very accomplished cable maker, twice actually. The first time a couple of months ago, and once again today funnily enough.

Ps- pcb makers or case makers, go to his site now, he has a box of miniature carbide cutters for sale that is an absolute bargain.

I bought some 30awg teflon-dielectric silver plated copper from Johnswireshop, but I never ended up recabling the ER-4P, as I couldn't figure out how to fabricate the little connectors properly.
