time for another thread on headphone stands. i know, i know. but i hope this will be helpfull to more that just myself.

i am well aware of the Pier 1 "glass head":

G150D.jpg

it has appeared in various threads

Realistically, this is not a viable option for my workplace or home. But, just to make sure, I will stop by my local Pier 1 anyway.

So, what I'm looking for is a ready-made stand like those of the Philips HP890 or the one in this thread of an old telephone stand from Radio Shack.

Yet, I'm also willing to build my own. I just don't have the greatest measure of creativity. I'll go out, buy wood, wire, and construct it, but I feel like i need a design for what it should look like.

I'm asking all of you for your ideas: should i mount a coat-rack thing on the wall? a table/desktop stand like the ones above?

It would be super helpful if you guys could possibly post pics of your own setups, so I could copy them (muahahahhaa) or be inspired by them.

I have 2 prs of headphones at home which need a place to hang... so they could either be on one single rack, or 2 independent racks. right now, my AKG501s are on my HP890 stand (the 890s are just in a drawer at work).

Thanks, i really hope you guys can share your thoughts/pics with me and everyone else.

I thought about building something similar to the Stax headphone stand, but figured it'd be too much trouble.

What I currently use is just a towel hanger that looks like a 'T' with a round base that I got at City Mill. One side holds my Omega IIs, and the other side holds my Lamda Pros. Then I proceeded to use one of the plastic zippered covers I found around the house that usually accompanies bedsheets and the like, and draped that over the stand and 'phones. I zip half of it up at the bottom, and the other half I hold closed with clothespins. Works for me.

Use your imagination and choose something that appeals to you aesthetically. I use large floor candle stands one each end of couch, hooks are pipe/conduit hangers from hardware store bent with pliers............I was going for the gothic look.

Just got back from radioshack ,lucked out I picked up 2 hands-free headset hangers for .27 cents each.I had to Visit 4 stores before finding them.Item # 43-2005
Look for yourself as all the salesman said they didn't have any.In one of the stores I noticed displays holding headphones they where selling. They looked like they where made of black plastic great looking but not able to get the salesman to sell me one as they where for display only.

I won that auction.
It was for 4 hangers, I doubt I will need all four of them.
If I don't need all of them, I will be happy to sell you one at cost.
They will end up costing me $5 each.

You can go to a store like Bed Bath & Beyond and look for plastic hooks with an adhesive back. Cost a few bucks for a couple hooks. They look nice, too. The hook is deep enough for my HD600s to hang on. I have the hook attached to the side of my desk. A nail in the wall works too

I think I will use 2 or 3 of those hangers.
If I have any left, I will sell the extras to anyone that wants one.
At cost, you pay shipping.

I told nanahachi I would sell him one first.
So he gets first dibs.
If he doesn't want it then it's first come, first served.

And yes, I would ship to Australia.
As long as you pay shipping and send me a handful of kangaroo belly fur that you got yourself from a live kangaroo in the wild.
Or you can send me your Crocodile Dundee hat, cause I know everyone in Australia wears one.
