I currently have the Sennheiser hd-497s, and am looking to find some better headphones by the end of summer. I am thinking price range is $300 and below; I do not want to be upgrading again in another 6 months. I am been reccomended the ety4p 's. Closed is prefered. What would you guys recommend?

Also, I am looking for a set of headphones for exercising, under $50. Open. I have heard the Sennheiser MX-500's are really good for this. Any other recommendations?

Untill you are advised by some big cats from this jungle, I might suggest you to try a search on Ultrasone HFI650, both Trackmaster and DVD Edition. Closed, built tough, excellent sound.

I'd go for the er4p's. They're basically the best closed headphones out there.

ms2's? what are they?

I should have said unamped; but if I can get a decent amp+headphones for $350 or less thats fine.

I know you need an amp for the DT770s, can you reccomend a portable one for me?

I like the beyer dt-250/80 It's closed, comfortable and seem to have a fairly flat frequency responce with just a slight rolling off at the very upper end. I don't like the coiled cord but other than that the dt250's are a decent headphone. They will cost you about 169 usd at headroom but you might be about to get them cheaper somewhere else. Look around for a good price and give them a try.

I found a local dealer that has both the er4ps and the beyers; hopefully I can try them out there and order them online later, if I prefer them over the Beyer's.

MS2's are Alessandro Music 2's. They are Grado 325's that are refined I guess would be the word, to a more neutral presentation. They go for 299.00 new. They are not closed though. Do you have an amp?

If you take advantage of a dealer's time and hospitality, you should support that dealer by buying the product from them. That's all I'm going to say.

If I like the beyers over the erp4's, I am going to buy the beyer's locally. I have not even been in there yet, they might not even sell them there (I believe it is a studio or something).

If they already have the headphones open, it costs them nothing.

If they were just $10 more than buying them online, I would buy them locally. But at $290, so I just say no.

Lets say you walk in to bestbuy, and see a nice plasma tv that looks great there and is selling for $2200, but you know that you can get it at circuit city for $2000. are you going to say, "hey I saw it at best buy so I am going to buy it there"? Probably not. That's why most companies try to have competitive prices or at least price-match.

And no, I do not have an amp. Quote:
