-Will be used mostly with my 1st gen ipod nano (running out of space, will probably upgrade to 5.5gen 30gb ipod video soon) and occasionally my pc (x-fi soundcard)

-portability is key and its very good if it blocks out other noises so i can only hear the music.

-i listen to a lot of edm like trance(hard especially...), house, and occasionally hip-hop

-like bass but also really emotional synth parts...

thanks for your advice

edit: i didnt really consider canal-phones because i heard they have week bass
also headphones that really immerse you and make it sound 3d is a plus

Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro's have a decent amount of bass. They run about $160.

What's your budget?

What are you looking for, full sized cans or IEM's?

bass is apparently very good on Future Sonics Atrio M5, i am in the same situation as you atm, looking for a decent pair of IEMs which has to have good bass.
Super fi 5 pro and atrio m5 are my choices.

rb67 where can you get the super fi 5 pros for $160?

My budget is flexible... but generally I guess under $200.. although I could go over if I got a really good recommendation...
The headphones will be running straight for the ipod no amp or anything.
So far I looked at Sonys mdr-7506 but its very expensive were I live (in Canada) and it was going for over $150 and I figured I could get a better headphone for that price.
I'l have to try the canal-phones (thats what the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro's are right?) to see if they are comfortable for me.
btw this is coming from the white standard ipod headphones
