First off, I wouldn't try to fix the CX-300's yourself. Try going to sennheisers website and look up their contact information. Most likely you'll just have to give them a call, and they'll instruct you what you have to do.

And to answer another of your questions...coby is not a good brand. Don't buy coby. They are seriously not worth it.

PM me or post if you have any other questions.

There's not really a definite 'better'. It all comes down to tastes, I personally only like the high end Senn produces (the low end is over-priced for what you get IMO).

I sold coby for over a year (and will be selling it again in a week). The retailer that I worked for has gotten more returns on coby products than any other brand that we carried. Their products are cheap for a reason. They aren't quality and the manufacturer is not very friendly toward warranty help.

Caveat emptor, my friend.

However, the mp3 player is what you have...which is fine if that's all the further you want to go. Don't get offended...you asked if it was a good brand and I told you what I know.

And as to the other question- Both are good companies. It really does come down to personal preference. Shure is generally good about warranty support, however. I'm sure that as long as it wasn't accidental/intentional damage, Sennheiser will take care of you as well.

Good luck,

Nylan
